In October 2022 I finished my first project in Israel. It was a small exhibition of works by French photographer Raphael Perez in the multifunctional space of the ZOA House in Tel-Aviv. The project was dedicated to Israeli Jazzmen and took place along with the International jazz festival. The most interesting part of the task was to adjust the exhibition to the constantly changing landscape of the room. Every day furniture was organized differently, in addition extra banners or catering zones might have appeared at any moment. So you never know how your exhibition will work in the space another day. Big crowds before the events made it also difficult to keep images safe and noticeable on the walls.
The solution I offered for this space was to put all the images much higher than usual perception line. It gave a chance to see the solid set of images despite any furniture relocation and a significant number of visitors. It also lets the images be saved from scratches and damages.
Another interesting detail was the necessity to present the same exhibition twice on different floors of the building. It meant the creation of two different layout decisions for the same set of prints.
The way how images are presented on the second floor reflects the general idea of the music notes line more clearly. In the end I believe it turned out to be a very interesting architectural puzzle that I was happy to solve. With special thanks to Raphael Perez and all the people who made this exhibition possible.
